The Real Cost of Electronics

Companies are willing to take a cut in their products in hopes of sales via other outlets (software, accessories). But some products are just down right ripping us off. iSuppli dissected some of the most popular gadgets out there, and broke it down the price, piece by piece.

Apple iPod Touch (First Generation)

Date: September, 2007
Retail price: $299 (8GB), $399 (16GB)
Cost of components: $147 (8GB), $179 (16GB)

Be a frugal electronics consumer and resist away from products that are just released. They are bound to drop to a more reasonable price.
